Lee Aaron is a self-professed 'Metal Queen.' There were few women in the mid to late 80s that could truly hold their own with the all male metal hair-bands. Lee and a few other women like Doro Pesch and Lita Ford did just that. She was not a mainstream success mostly due to a lack of exposure by her weak record label, Attic Records. In my opinion, Lee's best album is Bodyrock. It's a straightforward hard rock album with good hooks and decent songwriting.
Although she mellowed out with her last few albums, Lee still penned catchy tunes with fun lyrics. Her last two album, Slick Chick and Beautiful Things find Lee delving into the world of gritty barroom jazz and blues. Most of these songs are covers with the exception of two original songs Lee wrote. She has stood the test of time and has evolved as the music industry has changed. From her first days as a metal goddess, to a lighter, more mainstream sound, Lee carries on! I can't wait to hear what she will come up with next. Keep on rockin' Lee.
