Ronnie James Dio (R.I.P. May 16th, 2010) has a long history in music. He started out at a very young age fronting various bands and releasing a handful of singles along the way. Once Ronnie started getting recognized with the band Elf, he had even greater ambitions, which lead him to front two of the 70s and 80s biggest bands, Rainbow and Black Sabbath. Ronnie fronted several albums with Rainbow, and then left to join the ranks of Black Sabbath due to the departure of Ozzy Osbourne. After two albums and tours with Black Sabbath, Ronnie decided to hook up with old Rainbow band mate and bass player Jimmy Bain to form a solo band appropriately titled DIO. Besides this new undertaking, Ronnie also was responsible for a one-off charity album titled Hear 'N Aid, which included many of the 80s top hair metal artists and produced the increible song "Stars".
Dio is without any doubt, one of the top metal singers of all time; in fact, he is my all time favorite Heavy Metal singer. His vocals are immediately distinguishable and haven't change a bit over the years. Many bands tried to imitate his style; but none could match him. Ronnie continues to put out albums today; his latest release is Master of the Moon, which proves what he has always said, he never closes. Long Live the King!
