This is some crazy stuff right here. The songs are epic in length and are basically sub-sonic rumblings. Sunn O))) are Drone masters, taking notes from the pioneers of Drone, Seattle's Earth. Careful with your speakers if you have the bass turned way up. In fact, the first time I played Sunn O))), stuff fell off the shelf on the wall where my speakers are mounted. If you want a little extra bonus while smoking the happy weed, check this out. Actually, it would probably go better with a few CCs of heroin.
Their 2005 'Black One' album has to be the most frightening album I've ever heard; Honestly! I've heard some scary stuff, but this tops it. This will be in my CD player for Halloween when I scare the living daylights out of the kids, until I can find something creepier. Sunn O))) teamed up with Boris to create the incredible 'Altar' collaboration in 2006. This album also features artists such as Jessie Sykes on vocals, Kim Thayil from Soundgarden on guitar, and the epic 'Her Lips were Wet with Venom', a 28 minute opus featuring Dylan Carlson of Earth fame.
Members also worked with Kyuss, Burning Witch, Goatsnake, Thorr's Hammer, Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine, KTL, Aethenor, and Khanate to name a few. Fans of Sunn O))) may like the previously mentioned bands, as well as Earth and Boris. Sunn O)))'s home label is Southern Lord, which sports many of the bands mentioned here, along with many other metal bands.
